The South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission) Gauteng Provincial Office will host a media networking session. The purpose of this session is to develop strategic partnerships with media outlets and explore challenges facing the media in human rights reporting and coverage and the media’s role during human rights violations.

The Mpumalanga Provincial Office (MPO) will be hosting a dialogue under the theme: “Youth and LGBTI Rights” to commemorate Youth Day.
The purpose of the dialogue is to promote a culture of tolerance for sexual and gender diversity in society as well as discuss possible tools towards ending violence and related human rights violations based on sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.

World Refugee Day is observed on the 20th June each year to honour the spirit and courage of millions of refugees worldwide who have had to flee their homes and countries due to violence, war, and other conflicts. In 2000 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to celebrate and commemorate World Refugee day to raise awareness about the plight of refugees throughout the world.

This will bring an end to more than two years of scandals that led to a near collapse of public-sector oncology services in the province.
KwaZulu-Natal’s head of health, Dr. Sibongiseni Dhlomo, said today that oncology services had been completely restored at Durban’s Addington Hospital.

This is after the father of two was allegedly beaten by a 22-year-old white male who repeatedly called Malatji the ‘K-word’ during the assault.

VEREENIGING. – The  Democratic Alliance (DA) Regional Chairperson and Midvaal Local Municipality Executive Mayor Bongani Baloyi wants the South African Human Rights Commission to investigate the reported racial attack suffered by 57-year-old Lazarus Malatji in Vereeniging recently.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) will be holding an inquiry on Thursday into the recent disruptive protest at Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital. Last month, hundreds of workers shut down the hospital over unpaid bonuses. The commission has expressed concern over the negative impact the protest had on patients who were either forced out of the building or denied entry. Gauteng provincial manager Buang Jones elaborates further.

THE South African Human Rights Commission’s inquiry into the Charlotte Maxeke protests is currently underway.
SAHRC’s provincial manager, Buang Jones, last week announced the commission.
This follows the protest at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Joburg on 31 May.
