OFM News was just informed that an agreement has been reached between The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and the Mangaung Metro in the Brandwag-eviction crisis that was unfolding in Bloemfontein today.

Various residents are still locked out of their homes at the Brandwag flats in Bloemfontein.

This comes despite an agreement reached earlier between the South African Human Rights Commission and the Manguang Metro.
This morning more than 65 Bloemfontein families were evicted out of their Brandwag Municipal flats . Residents and their belongings were also left stranded in the rain before the SAHRC intervened.

The United Nations General Assembly declared the 3^rd of May to be World Press Freedom Day to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press and remind governments of their duty to respect and uphold the right to freedom of expression enshrined under Article 19 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The day also coincides with the Declaration of Windhoek, a statement of free press principles put together by African newspaper journalists in 1991.
