The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC or Commission) welcomes the widely anticipated judgment handed down in the Bhisho High Court, in the Eastern Cape, yesterday, in relation to the inadequacies of the school infrastructure norms and standards. The Court ruled that the norms and standards were inconsistent with the Constitution and thus invalid.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has reached a settlement agreement, with author, Ms Grethe Wiid, on the SOGIE rights complaints lodged in response to Ms Wiid’s books.

The Nelson Mandela International Day (or Mandela Day) is an annual international day in honour of Nelson Mandela, celebrated each year on the 18th July, Mr. Mandela's birthday. The day was officially declared by the United Nations (UN) in November 2009 with the first Mandela Day - recognised by the UN - held on the 18th July 2010.
