The Commission thus recognises that South Africa’s diversity in race, religion culture, language, ethnicity, social origins and other factors, is a treasure for this nation and will be joining everyone within South Africa in celebrating Heritage Day on Tuesday, the 24th September 2019.

The South African Human Rights Commission hosted a Public Inquiry into the Impact of Rural Land Use and Ownership Patterns on human rights in South Africa. Land has always been a prominent and emotive issue in South Africa. Our history of colonialism, violent conquest, dispossession, forced removals and racially skewed distribution has left us with a complex and difficult legacy.

As part of the 2019 Schools Moot Court Competition, and following the success of Mpumalanga learners who participated in the Essay Writing Phase of the Competition, the Mpumalanga Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission in collaboration with Department of Basic Education and the Department of Justice in Mpumalanga will be hosting the learners as they now take part in the Provincial Oral Round of the Competition.
