The South African Human Rights Commission is investigating an incident in which a frozen-food business from Musina circulated an advertisement perceived to be offending the rights and dignity of domestic workers.
The way the last part of the advert is penned depicts domestic workers as individuals who should feed on chicken necks, gizzards, heads, and feet.

Cape Town – The SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is investigating a complaint lodged against Shoprite in Langa, which was forced by residents to close at the weekend after two cashiers tested positive for Covid-19.
The residents had taken issue with the store allegedly continuing to operate, despite the cases.

Its head of strategic support and governance, Siyasanga Giyose, told the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services the declaration of a national state of disaster came with "huge human rights implications".

Commissioner, advocate Andre Gaum said they would be starting the nationwide monitoring of schools' readiness.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has written to minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga recommending that she reconsider the return of students to schools from 1 June.
The SAHRC said it has performed independent monitoring of schools for readiness in all nine provinces and has held consultations with various stakeholders, including teachers’ unions and school governing bodies.

Durban - The South African Human Rights Commission said it had written to basic education Angie Motshekga, suggesting that she reconsider the decision for schools to reopen on June 1 after shutting down in March due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
South African learning institutions have been closed since mid-March in a bid to avoid transmissions of the coronavirus, but the department of education has said classes will resume next week for grade 7 pupils who are set to progress to high school in 2021 and grade 12 learners due to write their final school exams later this year.
