DURBAN - The National Teachers Union (Natu) on Tuesday said it had partnered with the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to conduct a survey of teachers’ concerns ahead of the return of more learners to schools next week.
Grades 1, 2, 3, 6, 10 and 11 will be able to return to classes from Monday.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) intends taking the City of Cape Town to court over its eviction policy following the forced removal of a naked man from his shack in Khayelitsha on Wednesday.
"There is absolutely no excuse for what happened," said SAHRC commissioner Chris Nissen on Thursday.

Durban - DA parliamentarian Dianne Kohler Barnard has lodged a hate speech complaint with the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) regarding social media posts calling for the killing of white farmers and land grabs.
Barnard said the DA had referred at least six social media posts, which “seemingly glorify farm murders and attacks” to the SAHRC for an investigation into hate speech.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC or Commission) notes with serious concern the state of audit outcomes in the sphere of local government. On 1 July 2020, the Auditor-General, Mr Kimi Makwetu released the MFMA 2018-19 report on the local government audit outcomes. The report depicts an extremely worrying negative trend on the audit outcomes of the municipalities. The overall picture painted by the report is that things are not well within the local government sphere at all.

The South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission or the SAHRC) strongly condemns the actions depicted in footage circulating on social and mainstream media, of the City of Cape Town’s Anti-Land Invasion Unit, accompanied by City Law Enforcement officers, violently removing a naked man from a shack about to be demolished, in eThembeni, near Empolweni, in Khayelitsha, on Wednesday the 1st July 2020.
