Ahmed Kathrada Foundation condemns BLF

The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation says it notes and supports the strong public condemnation of the violent anti-white rhetoric expressed by Black First Land First's (BLF) Andile Mngxitama.
Mngxitama was speaking at a rally at the weekend where he threatened to kill five white people in retaliation for the death of every black person.
The Foundation's Executive Director, Neeshan Balton, said Mngxitama's assertions were inciteful and amount to hate speech.

'South Africans must just respect each other'- rights commissioner's wish for 2019

"We are like a see-saw. Today we are high. Tomorrow we are very low," he said in a rare break from crossing the province to investigate complaints. 
"South Africans must just respect each other," he implores.
This advice applies to everybody - from those who make derogatory remarks at a braai, to the government official who makes people wait three months and demands endless emails just to fix a water problem.

DWS takes Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality to court to stop pollution of rivers
The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) has approached the courts to ensure the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality responds positively to the requisite remedial actions to stop pollution emanating from some of the water treatment plants within the Metros jurisdiction. This inaction has a direct impact on the DWS being able to drive its obligation to provide safe and drinkable water to affected communities.

The Congress of the People (Cope) has confirmed it will be laying charges of hate speech and incitement to violence against the leader of Black First Land First (BLF) Andile Mngxitama.

Most of the complaints received by the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) over the past year were race-related.
According to a trends analysis report launched by the commission in Johannesburg on Monday‚ most complaints it received during the 2016/2017 financial year were related to:
- equality;- health care‚ food‚ water and sanitation;- social security‚ and arrested‚ detained and accused persons;- labour relations; and- just administrative action.

The DA says it has reported Black First Land First (BLF) leader Andile Mngxitama to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and taken him to the Equality Court for comments he made over the weekend which it said "incites violence" against white South Africans.
In a statement, DA national spokesperson Solly Malatsi said the party's North West leader, Joe McGluwa, will also lay charges against Mngxitima for incitement of violence.
"We cannot allow Mngxitama's comments and actions to go unchallenged," Malatsi said.
"Institutions of the state empowered to investigate and prosecute on matters of this nature have a duty to act."

Lobby group AfriForum has instructed its legal team to prepare court documents to lay a charge of hate speech against the Black First Land First leader

The South African Human Rights Commission said on Monday that it had received multitudes of complaints through its social media platforms against Black First Land First (BLF) leader Andile Mngxitama.
