Dr Danny Titus passed on at the age of 63.
Friends and family mourned the loss of former Commissioner of the South African Human Rights Commission, Dr Danny Titus. He passed on last Friday.

The SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) met with various Gauteng departments on Tuesday to find solutions which would see the currently unoccupied R82 million Mayibuye Primary School in Midrand operational in the 2021 academic year.
SAHRC Gauteng head Buang Jones told News24 that the commission met with the Gauteng Department of Education, the Department of Infrastructure Development (DID) and the City of Johannesburg to iron out a way forward.

The SAHRC says its provincial office will investigate the serious allegations of human rights abuse levelled against KwaSizabantu.
It viewed the allegations in a serious light, said SAHRC CEO advocate Tseliso Thipanyane.

A former commissioner of the SA Human Rights Commission, Danny Titus, has died at the age of 63.
The commission said Titus died on Friday, after being in a coma since undergoing eye surgery in July.
He is survived by his two daughters, Daléne and Neriska, who shared their memories of their dad, praising him for being a devoted family man in addition to living a life worthy of being emulated, describing him as “kind, intelligent and generous”.

JOHANNESBURG - South African rights groups have vowed to petition the United Nations and African Union over the latest ruling that the country's Olympic 800-metre champion Caster Semenya cannot compete unless she takes hormone-suppressing drugs.
Switzerland's Supreme Court last week dismissed Semenya's appeal against a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on eligibility criteria for athletes with differences of sexual development (DSD).

The Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) says it will engage with government, including President Cyril Ramaphosa, as well as the United Nations to ensure that what it calls ‘discriminatory’ regulations of the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) are not implemented.

Former SA Human Rights Commission commissioner Danny Titus died on Friday at the age of 63.
Titus had been in a coma since the end of July after complications arose during an operation to remove a cataract.
The SAHRC remembered Titus as a historian, linguist and academic beyond his human rights work.

The SAHRC says its assessment of the Mayibuye Primary School in Midrand shows no proof it is built on a wetland.
It says the running sewage from outside the school that is spilling inside its premises needs to be sorted out urgently.
Foul odours are emanating from the area where the school is built due to the sewage.

Cape Town - As the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is set to convene an inquiry into the advertising industry and its adherence to human rights, Unilever says it was “shocked to discover” the material they had supplied to Clicks.
The London-based multinational consumer goods company said it was also reviewing all its marketing campaigns and images in South Africa.

The SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) announced on Friday that it will launch an inquiry into the advertising industry relating to racism.
This comes after a TRESemmé advert on Clicks’ website depicted natural black hair as “dry and damaged”, which drew widespread criticism and inspired nationwide protests by the EFF.

The SA Human Rights Commission wants to meet Clicks officials to get a better understanding into the health and beauty retailer's publication of an advertisement on its website that appeared to demean African hair.
The advertisement, which ran on its website last week, showed a black woman’s hair and described it as being “dry, damaged, frizzy and dull” against that of a white woman's hair, which is described as “colour-treated, fine, flat and normal”. The advert caused huge outrage with the EFF on Monday taking action against Clicks by shutting down several of its branches across the country.

However, the commission says it remains deeply concerned at reports of human rights violations in Zimbabwe.
