Human Rights Commission confirms legal action against Etzebeth

02 October 2019

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) will lodge a complaint against Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth at the Equality Court on Friday.

The rugby player is accused of racially abusing and assaulting a fellow patron at a pub in Langebaan on the West Coast in August.
The alleged incident took place only weeks before Etzebeth was set to board a plane for the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Human Rights Commissioner Chris Nissen says the commission's Buang Jones will be in Langebaan to collect outstanding statements and address the community on the matter on Thursday.
