Media Advisory: The South African Human Rights Commission Subpoena the Director-General of the Department of Home Affairs

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC/the Commission) has subpoenaed the  Director General of the Department of Home Affairs (Department), Mr Tommy Makhode, and the Department’s North West Provincial Manager, Ms Eunice Mhlanga, in terms of section 15 (1) (c) of the South African Human Rights Commission Act 40 of 2013.

The scheduled appearances relate to a complaint concerning delays in the determination of an application for citizenship. The scheduled appearances will also provide an opportunity to discuss other matters falling within the mandate of the respective institutions.
