The appearance is occasioned by the Municipality’s failure to provide substantive responses to several investigations undertaken by the Commission, despite repeated correspondence, follow-ups and opportunities afforded to the Municipality to engage with the matters under investigation.
The investigations concern serious service delivery and human rights issues, including severe sewer spillages along the Airport–Bray Road in Mahikeng, persistent water shortages in Ramatlabana Village, the continued use of bucket and makeshift sanitation facilities in informal settlements, sewage pollution affecting roads and watercourses in Mahikeng, and systemic water supply challenges affecting Mosweu Village and communities in Ward 18 of Lehurutshe.
