Media Advisory: The South African Human Rights commission to release an Inquiry Report into the State of Service delivery at Local Government Level in the Northern Cape Province

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC/Commission) will officially release its Inquiry Report into the state of service delivery at local government level in the Northern Cape Province on Wednesday, 22 April 2026.

Over the years, the SAHRC has received several complaints about local government service delivery failures in the Northern Cape Province. Consequently, the SAHRC in October 2025, conducted a comprehensive inquiry wherein it received both written evidence and oral testimony from complainants, government officials and other relevant stakeholders.

The SAHRC has finalised its inquiry report into the state of service delivery at local government level in the Northern Cape Province. The report contains several findings and recommendations.

The SAHRC invites members of the media, government officials, civil society and community members to the launch of the inquiry report which will take place as follows:

  • Date: Wednesday, 22 April 2026
  • Time: 11h00 – 13h00
  • Venue: Protea Hotel, Big Hole, Kimberley
