Media Briefing Invite: Outcomes of the South African Human Rights Commission’s provincial visit in Limpopo

The South African Human Rights Commission (Commission/SAHRC) invites members of the media to a briefing on its week-long provincial visit to monitor the state of human rights in the Limpopo Province. The visit, led by Advocate Sandra Makoasha, SAHRC Commissioner responsible for Pro-Human Rights Budgeting; Business and Human Rights; and Health, was jointly conducted with the Limpopo Provincial Office.

Commissioner Makoasha and the Limpopo Provincial Office will update members of the media on the outcomes of the meetings with the Limpopo Provincial Government; and its monitoring of service delivery in the province.

Amongst others, the Commission will provide update on its monitoring visits to healthcare facilities following service delivery complaints and infrastructure challenges. The Commission will also share with the media its assessment of the state of Equality Courts, and resolutions on how to improve access to justice.

Lastly, the Commission will also provide update on the meeting with the Limpopo Department of Co-operative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs; and Speaker of the Legislature regarding challenges on the implementation of its various inquiry reports. These reports have findings and recommendations on how various spheres of Government must address service delivery and other human rights challenges in the province.
