Media Advisory: SAHRC Northern Cape Provincial Office to Conduct a Strategic Stakeholder Engagement on Possible Areas of Cooperation and Collaboration

The South African Human Rights Commission (the Commission) recognises that human rights are not the monopoly of one institution and that a range of institutions, bodies and authorities have an interest in advancing them. Given this, the Commission is therefore obliged to liaise, partner and work with them to ensure that policies and practices are synchronised as far as possible to achieve common objectives where circumstances warrant cooperation.

Against this background, the Northern Cape provincial office will be conducting a strategic stakeholder engagement scheduled to take place as follows:

Date      : Thursday, 04 May 2023

Time     : 10:00 AM – 13:00 PM

Venue   : Virtual / Online (Microsoft Teams Meeting)

The purpose of the strategic stakeholder engagement is to identify, establish and maintain close working relations with institutions with similar objectives of the Commission to identify and agree on possible areas of cooperation and collaboration for the 2023/2024 Financial Year.

 

The following are focus areas the Commission wishes to seek cooperation and collaboration on:

 

  • Access to justice and equality
  • Basic education and children’s rights
  • Basic health care
  • Basic services (Human settlements, water, and sanitation)
  • Disability and older persons
  • Governance, anti-corruption, and human rights
  • Prevention of torture, human rights, and law enforcement
  • Immigration
  • Land and environment
  • Living and working conditions of farm workers and farm dwellers
  • Social cohesion and nation building
  • Pro-human rights budgeting
