On 6 – 9 September 2022, the North West Provincial Office of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) will conduct capacity building workshops aimed at capacitating faith based organisations and traditional leaders in Vryburg and Setlagole village.
The SAHRC notes with concern that, despite the dawn of freedom and democracy, and notwithstanding the gains achieved thus far, considerable challenges remain in respect of the advancement of the Bill of Rights, particularly in rural areas.
The empowerment sessions will comprise of training on the human rights jurisprudence and the three-fold mandate of the Commission. It is envisaged that the community human rights champions will carry out work to further the mandate of the Commission after the workshop.
The capacity building workshops are scheduled to take place as follows:
