Media Invite: Launch of the 2017/18 Equality Report: Achieving substantive economic equality through rights-based radical socio-economic transformation in South Africa

Wednesday, 11th July 2018

Attention: Editors and Reporters

The South African Human Rights Commission will be hosting a launch of its 2017/18 Equality Report on Achieving substantive economic equality through rights-based radical socio-economic transformation in South Africa. The Equality Report seeks to evaluate government’s progress in implementing its programme of radical socio-economic transformation, aimed at achieving substantive socio-economic equality, as contained in the Medium Term Strategic Framework.

In the Report, key rights-based drivers of radical transformation are identified as the right to equality itself, the right to further education and the right of equitable access to land. The Report makes key recommendations to various stakeholders on how to meaningfully achieve substantive equality through human rights in the abovementioned areas of further education, access to land and public procurement.

The launch will take place on:
Thursday, 12 July 2018
Commission’s Head Office at 33 Hoofd Street, Braampark Forum III,
Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
10:00-12:00
