Medical waste from the Letaba Hospital is flowing directly into the Letaba River‚ said Lindy Wilson MP and DA shadow deputy minister of health‚ following an oversight visit to the Tzaneen hospital on Monday.
She said that the South African Human Rights Commission would be asked to institute an urgent investigation.
Wilson said she "found human excretion‚ blood‚ toxic waste and other dangerous medical waste spewing from the hospital directly into the Letaba River".

JOHANNESBURG, March  (ANA) – Human rights in South Africa are a mixed bag with enormous challenges and difficulties, but also positive developments and obstacles that have been overcome, and hope, according to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) which is holding a two-day seminar "Business and Human Rights Dialogue" in Johannesburg this week.
The controversial pastor, Oscar Bougardt, has been ordered by the Cape High Court not to preach against homosexuality for the next two months, he is facing charges of hate speech and contravening a court order.

Human rights in South Africa are a mixed bag with enormous challenges and difficulties, but also positive developments and obstacles that have been overcome, and hope, according to the South African Human Rights Commission which is holding a two-day seminar “Business and Human Rights Dialogue” in Johannesburg this week. “South Africa has very good infrastructure in terms of laws, policies and institutions,” Advocate Tseliso Thipanyane, SAHRC CEO told the African News Agency during an interview on the sidelines of the seminar at the Capital Moloko Hotel in Sandton on Tuesday.

In April 2017 the South African Human Rights Commission (The Commission) received several complaints, namely, from Mr. Michael Biribauer, Mr Shane Opperman and Mr Daniel van der Heever, in their capacity as concerned private citizens and Advocate Anton Alberts, in his capacity as a Member of Parliament, representing the Freedom Front Plus Political Party against the Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Cllr. Mzwandile Masina.

For the past 18 years, residents have been living without basic services, such as electricity, water and toilets.
As South Africa commemorated Human Rights Day on March 21, residents of Freedom Park, in Villa Liza, voiced strong opinions that their rights have been violated.
According to community leader Themba Nkani, after seeing that the metro was not responding to their pleas, the community resorted to submitting a letter to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).

The DA will write to the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, to request that she investigate an allegation of hate speech and race-based incitement of violence involving Major Mohlala of the South African Defence Force’s (SANDF) Signal Formation at the Wonderboom-Military Base in Pretoria.

The reason for this is because public schools have been rejecting undocumented leaners. Illegal private schools are often not registered with the Department of Basic Education. The presenter speaks to spokesperson for the HRC Gail Smith who says the court has set a significant president in confirming the constitution of human dignity as well as a message for others. She said the court has shown that it will not tolerate this in future and that some words are not meaningless in the context of South Africa.
