On 17 November 2018, the Department of Traditional Affairs (DTA) held a meeting with the National Khoisan Council in Bloemfontein.The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) has committed to continue to engage the National Khoisan Council (NKC) as part of the implementation of the South African Human Rights Commission Report on the promotion of rights of the Khoi and San people.
This follows the SAHRC releasing the National Hearings Relating to the Human Rights Situation of the Khoi-San in South Africa report in August.

The South African Human Rights Commission has now stepped in to investigate allegations of racism at a North West primary school, saying that if children have been discriminated against there will be serious repercussions.

The South African Human Rights Commission has voiced its unhappiness with an alleged racism incident at Laerskool Schweizer-Reneke. The commission says it wants to investigate the school after a picture showing four black children sitting separately from the white children in a class at the school went viral. A teacher in South Africa has been suspended and allegations of racism are being investigated in a small town in the country's North West province after a photograph showing black and white children sitting at separate desks went viral.
Twenty-five years after the dawn of democracy in South Africa, the country is still grappling with the specter of apartheid -- a policy that separated citizens based on the color of their skin and prevented the black majority from accessing the same quality of services, including education, as the white minority.

SGB chairperson Jozeph du Plessis told the publication on Sunday that the school would be open on Monday.
"We have put appropriate measures in place, but we won't divulge any details at this stage," Du Plessis reportedly said.
This follows a racial row that rocked the sleepy North West town on Wednesday after a photo apparently depicting segregation in one of the school's Grade R classes went viral.

A member of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) has landed in hot water after allegedly referring to a civilian as a “straat hotnot”.
This followed a heated argument between the member and Kraaifontein resident Tim van Heerden, who recorded the exchange.
The argument was over Van Heerden’s son and the member's step-daughter and their child.

Another school in the North West has been rocked by allegations of racism.

Learning at Hoërskool Stilfontein has been suspended amid a call by pupils for the removal of the principle amid accusations of racism.
The provincial Department of Education’s Freddy Sepeng says officials were on the way to the school on Monday.
Sepeng says details are still sketchy and the department is calling on parents and learners not to disrupt classes.
