This was the warning issued by the Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (Denosa) after six of the nine provincial health departments failed to pay nurses their uniform allowance.

For the past week academic activities at the Limpopo-based university have been cancelled as students held protests. The protests were centered around the fact that students had not received their funding from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme. (NSFAS)
UPDATE: Makumbi Khathutshelo, the secretary-general of the Student Representative Council (SRC) told The Daily Vox that most students had still not received their allowances and that only around 10-15% of students have received them. During a mass meeting held, students decided they would continue striking until the allowances had been paid out. These allowances include NSFAs, Funza Lushaka and other bursaries.

The death of University of Cape Town (UCT) Professor Bongani Mayosi has again brought up a debate about transformation at universities.
On Thursday concerned academics and the Black Academic Caucus at UCT called for an inquiry into circumstances surrounding Mayosi’s suicide, stating that black academics, staff and students were marginalised.

Bo Kaap residents are expected to hold a public meeting on Monday after property development company Blok withdrew an interdict application that prevented activists and residents from going anywhere near its building site in Lion street, where a 12 storey apartment complex is being built.The community of the Bo-Kaap were interdicted from interfering with the work of a developer trying to demolish the St Monica’s Maternity Hospital earlier this year. Judge Robert Henney granted the interdict while Bo-Kaap residents represented themselves against the interdict sought by Blok developers.
