Commissioners visited families and shelters housing hundreds of displaced children.

Pretoria - The practice of requesting a fee from protesters in the City of Johannesburg will be challenged in the Johannesburg High Court tomorrow.

The applicants, represented by the Centre for Applied Legal Studies (Cals), will argue that charging a fee to exercise the rights guaranteed in the Constitution is unlawful and unconstitutional.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) in the Free State has announced plans to conduct an investigation into the province’s service delivery system. This comes in response to reports from various communities across the province of poor delivery of basic services.

The SAHRC’s Provincial Manager, Thabo Kheswa says the hearings are scheduled for June or July.
