The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) in Limpopo has undertaken to facilitate a dialogue on access to justice for people living with disabilities and elderly people in the Limpopo province on the 20th of October 2023. The SAHRC has identified stakeholders who may play an important role in advancing access to justice for people living with disabilities and the elderly in the province.

In March 2022, the South African Human Rights Commission’s (the Commission) in the Eastern Cape conducted an investigative inquiry following complaints received by the Commission regarding allegations of excessive regulation of learners' appearances and school uniforms in institutions of learning. This Inquiry also considered instances of alleged discriminatory practices by educators concerning learners' natural hair, religious and cultural symbols, and requests for gender-neutral school uniforms, some of which attracted media attention.

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC/the Commission) notes with great concern and condemns the video that has gone viral on social media on Monday 16th October 2023, which depicts a woman who appears to suffer from a mental illness being assaulted with a panga after allegedly trespassing into private home of Limpopo gospel artist known as Ngwana Ledwaba. The incident allegedly occurred in Ga- Mashashane in Limpopo province.

THE NATIONAL Prosecuting Authority NPA is setting the record straight following a press statement released by Hank's Olde Irish Pub, amid the alleged racial saga that took place at the establishment. The viral video that depicted Christopher Logan at physical loggerheads with one of the owners of the establishment in Bree Street in December, sparked outrage on social media, with the owners of the pub coming under fire for being alleged racists. In a statement two weeks ago, the pub owners claimed that "the investigation uncovered that Christopher Logan and his friend Thabiso Danca were responsible for creating a false narrative surrounding the incident".

On Monday, 16 October 2023, the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC/Commission) will officially release its report of its Inquiry into access to water and the efficacy of water services authorities within the Limpopo Province.

Access to water is essential to everyone’s health, dignity and prosperity. In recognition of the fundamental importance of water, the Constitution entrenches the right to have access to sufficient water. In recent years, the SAHRC has received several complaints relating to the challenges of sufficient access to water in various districts in Limpopo Province. The issue of poor and/or insufficient access to water remains a significant challenge for many communities in Limpopo Province.
