The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) said it will be instituting legal proceedings against Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr for his remarks that Disney’s agenda is to groom children to have sex with animals. Hofmeyr also said the LGBTQ+ community represents bestiality.

Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital in Johannesburg has lifted the suspension of Dr Tim De Maayer.

He was suspended on Thursday after penning an open letter, published by Daily Maverick, in which he pleads with authorities to help provide quality healthcare to children at the hospital.

On Thursday, 9 June, paediatric gastroenterologist Dr Tim de Maayer, who recently exposed the shocking state of children’s healthcare at the Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, was suspended for ‘serious misconduct’, which prompted a massive outpouring of public support for him. The Gauteng Department of Health has now announced that his suspension has been lifted, saying the matter was ‘resolved amicably’.

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Health Department says it will address the appalling conditions of its hospitals following the reinstatement of a doctor who spoke out against the failures of the department and its facilities.

On the 2nd of July 2022 the South African Human Rights Commission Eastern Cape provincial office noted from media reports the alleged gang rape of a 13 year old learner by fellow grade 12 learners at the Maria Louw High School in Komani, Eastern Cape. Based on the seriousness of the allegations as well as the urgent need to ensure that the safety of children is upheld, the Commission conducted a site inspection at the school yesterday the 4th July 2022.
