NACHRET

The National Centre for Human Rights Education and Training (NACHRET) is the training provider of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), offering professional education and training on human rights to a range of sectors and beneficiary groups. Its main area of activity is the development and delivery of courses, training programmes, workshops, dialogues and seminars on human rights.


The varied range of innovative and effective education programmes offered:

  • increase knowledge and understanding of human rights and
  • empower people to claim and organise for their rights.

Programmes are sustained by a rights based, interactive and participatory methodology:

  • to uphold human dignity and equality and
  • to develop attitudes of respect for human rights.

NACHRET Strategic Objective

To contribute to the development of a sustainable culture of human rights and democracy through training, by translating human rights standards into tangible and deliverable education and training outcomes and delivering courses, training programmes, workshops and seminars.

  • To provide training that contributes to poverty eradication and building capacity for vulnerable groups viz.

  • On a regional basis, to collaborate with and build capacity with African national human rights institutions
