South African Human Rights Commission
South African Human Rights Commission celebrates Human Rights Day in the Northern Cape.
The Commission will launch this year’s national Human Rights Day event on Monday March 21, 2005 at 10 am at the Concordia Community Hall, Springbok.
The event will host the Namakwa Youth Voices Forum focussing on marginalized rural youth. The forum will consist of six Northern Cape youths speaking about their achievements and challenges while living in rural Northern Cape. These youths are often isolated from the rest of the country and the world.
The Voices will present their testimonies outlining their experiences to a panel of experts consisting of Commissioners and representatives from State departments and civil society.
The Commission will also highlight good practice in these areas.
Commission staff will be on hand to register complaints around human rights issues, while others will conduct site visits to farm schools, boarding institutions and special needs schools.
