The SAHRC is the organisation which has the responsibility to monitor the realisation of socio-economic rights. Section 184(3) of the Constitution places an obligation on the Commission to request information annually from relevant organs of state on the measures that they have taken towards the realisation of the rights in the Bill of Rights concerning housing, health care, food, water, social security, education and the environment.
