Media Invite: SAHRC and APCOF hosts Dialogue on Human Rights and Policing

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) together with the African Policing Civilian Oversight Forum (APCOF) invites members of the media to a two day joint dialogue on human rights and policing in South Africa.

The dialogue aims towards building and promoting a rights based and human rights compliant policing in South Africa between Civil Society, Police, Chapter 9s and government and seeks to:
  • Create space for constructive discussion between stakeholders on issues related to policing and human rights
  • Support and encourage South African contribution and input in upcoming policy developments and the work of the recently established task teams
  • Share experiences and comparative analysis of human rights and policing

Members of the media are invited to attend and report about the proceedings of the dialogue.

The two day dialogue will be held as follows:
DATE:     20th and 21th April 2017
TIME:      09:00 – 16:00 (both days)
VENUE:    SAHRC 2nd Floor, Training Centre, Forum III, Braampark, 33 Hoofd Street, Braamfontein,   Johannesburg
SAHRC Commissioner Nissen will be leading the proceedings of the dialogue supported by the Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula
